TL;DR - A largely poor edition of Smackdown was saved by Santino greatness. But even the Milan Miracle could not make you unsee the horror of the finish to the Divas match, one of the worst in many years.
Orton was shown backstage to open the show, brooding and unhappy.
Teddy came along, and in a tone of voice not unlike a doctor diagnosing someone with a fatal illness, told Randy he had a concussion and couldn’t compete tonight. The fans were very sad, and chanted Randy.
Brodus Clay has been edited into the Smackdown intro, just as he has been taken off television. Excellent.
Big Show and Great Khali vs. Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes.
Mathews noted that together Khali and Show stood at 14 feet high. Hm. Maybe tonight they’ll employ that “stand on each others shoulders” tactic they did in rehearsal. Lilian Garcia was wearing an obnoxiously luminous pink dress. If you think me mentioning that is pointless, you clearly didn’t see the show. While I’m listing minute complaints - Wade’s theme continues to be awful. Khali slapped the heels around for a few minutes before they cut him off. His selling was… well, it was Khali selling. It never gets any better. While Cody worked him over, we had what felt like 50 reaction shots of Big Show, so I can only imagine some of the terrible moments they had to edit out. Show made a big fiery comeback and pinned Wade clean after cleaning house. Then he knocked out Khali. They were telling the story that Show is all annoyed because of everything Bryan has put him through, and it’s every man for himself in the Chamber. In that regard this was good, but the match was lame.
Mark Henry approached Long, looking for Orton’s spot in the Chamber.
He’s changed his tune from two weeks ago when he didn’t want it.
